New season of House in a couple weeks...i'm pumped!

I'm still alive...

So I haven't blogged in awhile...sorry to anyone who actually reads my blog and cares. It's been an awesome summer, I went to Michigan with some student from Fox Valley for CIY Move - which was awesome! Then I went to Maine with Sarah and her family, where I got engaged!!! (we have a wedding blog that Sarah made that you can check out here) Needless to say, it was an awesome vacation!

I'm back at school now...which kinda stinks cause now Sarah is 6 hours away...but I'm excited to get that much closer to graduating (fall 2010)...and getting back to work at Fox Valley.

Titletown 2009??

So the Steelers (of course) won the Superbowl this year, and the Penguins just won the Stanley Cup. That means the pressure is on for the Pirates! Most people think I'm crazy for even thinking that the Pirates have a shot of winning it all this year...and maybe I am...but I'm not counting them out yet. Right now, their record is 30-33, but they are only 4 games back in the NL Central. And the team is actually looking really good right now...the starting pitching and offense is finally good and able to contend.

Maybe I'm an idiot saying the Pirates can win the world series this year since they haven't even had a winning record since 1992, but crazier things have happened. Pittsburgh sports teams are just that good. Deal with it!

New Laptop

If you've read my blog before, you'll know that my laptop broke. Well, I finally ordered a new one. I debated for awhile between a Mac or a Dell and had pretty much decided on a Mac. But I ended up buying a Dell Studio 17inch ...on woot.com (thanks Jim). They had a sweet deal on a Dell laptop on there that I couldn't pass up. It's a beast of a laptop and was only 500 bucks! It's not exactly what I wanted, and is kinda huge, but it'll get the job done...and it was about $1500-2000 less than I was planning on spending...awesomeness

Jars live on Air1

This is a Jars of Clay video from when they performed live on Air1. I think it's pretty sweet. It made me think that Jars should release some kind of acoustic/b-side cd...cause that would be awesome! Check it out...

My laptop broke

My laptop broke. The screen basically fell off because the left hinge broke, which caused the metal frame that the hinge was screwed into to snap off...then that caused the right hinge to snap off of the metal frame as well. Right now, a couple small wires are the only thing holding my screen in place. It's kinda a bummer.

I'm afraid to ask, but I'm gonna anyhow...I can't decide between a PC and a Mac for my replacement. I've always been a PC guy, but everyone tells me I should get a Mac...I'm not sold yet though. I can get a much more powerful PC for less money than a Mac...

So why should I get a Mac??

Internship

I've had an internship at Fox Valley Christian Church in Batavia, IL over the past school year. I work with the student ministry, mainly in charge of leading worship. Yesterday was my last Sunday working there for the year, and as much as I'm looking forward to summer and getting home, I'm gonna miss working out there. I gotta thank Jim (the student minister - you can check out his blog) for letting me work with him and crash at his place on Sundays...he's really taught me a lot and I've had a good time working with him.

I didn't know what to expect at the beginning of the year when I started the internship. I felt like I was in the right place with everything working out with Trinity Christian College and then the internship, but I was kinda nervous because I had never really led worship by myself before. I've played in worship bands for awhile, but never by myself...especially singing. There were some ups and downs, but I think overall things went really well for my first year. I've still got a lot of stuff to learn, but I really looking forward to getting back at it in the fall. Can't wait to see what God's got in store for next year...

15 days...

till summer break! I'm pumped and very ready for school to be done this year. I'll miss working with the students at FVCC on the weekends, but at least I'll get to hang out with them for a week at CIY. The end of semester is always the worse, there is the most work to do...and the least motivation...just a couple more weeks...i can do this...

1 month

I've officially had my blog for 1 month now. When I made it, I figured no one would ever go to it or read it, but I've actually be surprised. I've had hundreds of visitors...and from 3 different countries (US, England, Sweden). Views from people in Chicago, New York, LA , Pittsburgh, Atlanta...to name a few. So I don't know what draws people into my blog, but its kinda cool to know that people actually read it.

Free Rice

So if you're like me, you probably spend way too much time on the internet...doing pretty much nothing. But if you have some time to waste online, you should check out FreeRice.com. The Long Fall Back To Earth

Jars of Clay released their new cd today...The Long Fall Back to Earth. I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole thing yet, but so far it sounds pretty sweet. And its Jars, so it can't be bad! You should check it out.

Pirates 10, Braves 0

So being a Pirates fan isn't always the greatest thing in the world...lots of disappointments... I have a good feeling about this season though. Today they beat the Braves 10-0...and yesterday they also shut them out 3-0. I know its still early, but the bucos look good. Team ERA is 2.63 - that's the best in the majors right now...last year they had the highest ERA in the national league. I wonder if they'll actually be able to keep it up and avoid their 17th consecutive losing season...which not only would be a MLB record, but a professional sports record. Pirates = 2009 NL central campions?? Watch out cubbies!

27 days till summer!

So by this time of the school year, I'm always tired and ready to be done. Especially now that the weather is finally nice! Really I'm just ready to be done with school altogether and graduate...but I found out a few weeks ago that I won't be able to graduate next spring as I hoped. Since I transferred I have 3 more semesters and will now graduate after the fall 2010 semester...so that kinda sucks...but what is one to do?? It's not an entirely awful thing though...it gives me one more summer of freedom before I have to get a real job in the "real world".

And on the bright side, I at least get to go to a school with a sweet mascot! (thats what the picture is if you were wondering) How many of you go/went to a school that had a troll as a mascot?? Thats what i thought...ESPN even thinks its sweet...check it out

Lifehouse Everything Skit

So The Outcry tonight (that's the weekly worship service here at Trinity) was awesome. All the songs were really powerful...and then they added in this skit too. I've seen it before online, but seeing it in person was really awesome...check it out

Opening day so close...

So this is a tough part of the year...the gap between football season and baseball season. There is nothing good to watch on TV (there is only so much of the ncaa tournament you can watch...especially when you dont really care about basketball). But Monday the Pirates open up the season against the Cardinals. I'm feeling good about this season...i think we might finally get above .500! The pitching doesn't look too amazing this year, but they have a bunch of good young guys that did well this spring. I'm hoping this is the first year in my lifetime where I can actually see the Pirates do well. Go Bucs!

American Idol

As you may or may not know, I'm a fan of American Idol. So since I'm bored right now and have nothing else to blog about, I figured I'll just talk about idol. I'd say my favorites so far this season are Danny, Allison, Adam, Matt, and Kris...I think I like Danny the most. They're all pretty good though, except Scott and Anoop...they are both decent but I really don't like either of them. I still haven't figured out who I think will go home this week...so far I'm 4 for 4 of picking who's going home so the pressure is on. I'm leaning towards Megan right now...I like her voice but I think she'll be gone...but my guess might change...we'll see

Scary Mary

I love this video! They should make this into a real movie...i'd watch it. And I'm sure it would be much better than the original Mary Poppins movie...definitely more entertaining!

So I'm trying out this blog thing. I really don't know if I'll use it often, but we'll see. I don't have that exciting of a life to talk about and I don't typically come up with great insightful things to share with the world...but we'll see how it goes.
